jono and me happen to be the last ones to get the dishes out of everyone

and so chris was joking

"haha wouldnt it be funny if they ran out of the lobsters?"

and guess what?

THEY DID!

when the guy came with 5 prawns on the plate, i was wondering how come my lobster came as a foetus or something

and i was like @o@

but Enoch was ever so kind to offer me his lobsters

God provides for the generous and it so happens that another dude from the table couldnt eat seafood and so gave his lobster to Enoch too

so jono and enoch shared prawns+lobster

and i offered my lobsters to em too=P

HAPPY ENDING=D

but the prawns were surprisingly bomb

this was the chinese styled barramundi soysauce fish was leak i think

ooo it was beautiful

there was two choice:

I chose the beef with mash

at first it was kinda dry (i started from the wrong end)

but when i ate the 'dry' part with the fat and crispy top,

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOGMOGMGMOMG

it was like fireworks exploding in my mouth

i was speeeechless

and the baby carrots and asparagus was sweeet

then... DESERT!

havent seen star fruits in perth in a long time!

let me tell you the story behind athalie's status:

'my psycho sister refuses to leave my room because she's interrogating me over the death of one of her 'nai huang baos'

athalie just found a stash of nai huang bao's in the freezer from 25/10/11 my birthday which Jono bought for me<3

but FOR THE LIFE OF ME, I COULDNT FIND THEM

and it made me upset

like, HOW CAN 14 BAO'S GO MISSING?!!

and apparently my mom said someone else ate them all

and i was SO upset

cos i only at 2

but then athalie ate 3-killed 1 (4 beautiful baos)

when i got home i was so excited (9 left) i put two into it but one dropped so it DIED

and i got so sad

so so so sad

sad

really

but i ate 1 really good one

steamed another two-was very excited

amos wanted one

and i was VERY reluctant because...

but out of the kindness of my sisterly heart

i gave him one

so at the moment 3 left

just to differentiate between the nai huang bao's ok

when i was in singapore previously, i heard there was a nai huang bao and i was SO excited

but my face dropped into a stone fish when i ate the bao 1 type of bun

whats the difference?

the bao after my heart is Bao 2,

creamy and custardy, very beautiful

bao 1 was grainy, yolky and strange

and though i tried to enjoy it, I COULDNT

my heart longed for bao 2

to me bao 2 is NOT just a desert or something to survive on

but is a...

see, i cant even describe it.

the soft and suppleness of the gentle bun

its like kissing a baby's cheek

Food... To some it is a mere staple for survival. But for some others like me,
It is so much more than that.

How shall I describe it? It is like a partner in a dance or even having a relationship.

For me, once I fall in love with a particular restaurant and it's food, I'm faithful and constant.
I will go back for more, keep in touch and order mostly the same things.
I'm a creature of habit after all

My last lover was a chap named nandos. When I first ate it, I didn't have a good impression so I left. But then i fell in love eventually when I was hooked on it's BBQ chicken and golden fries. Was faithful for two years, visiting it every single week. TRUE STORY.
But then... People change and so did nandos. -cry-
And yet I still never gave up on it! Going occasionally, hoping to keep the relationship alive and fanning the dying flame in my heart.

But it was never the same. It wasn't never because I grew tired of it, but as people change, so did the marinade of the chicken, the portion and quality of the fries and the texture of the chicken. Like someone you know very well, I can taste the slightest difference. I can note the slightest HINT that something has changed. I KNOW what thigh BBQ pieces are suppose to taste like. Slightly charred and crispy, yet tender on the inside, fragrant with the BBQ marinade. The fries, golden and fresh.

NOT a piece of dried chicken with a dab of BBQ sauce. Soggy and tough fries. -gasp-

Nandos had settled for another lover: complacency.

YAYY EXAMS ARE OVER!!!!

So since exams are over my next goal is to earn some holiday money!

I've a knack with money I think. Somehow I like to think about it, keep it find ways to make it. My dad before me is an entrepreneur and I like to make something out of nothing.
It's not that I want to buy fancy cars or perfumes or thousand dollar shoes, not my interest. Sure I like clothes tho heehee. But, I just like doing business.

Sometimes my mind can't stop thinking and it spins crazily

And so I sat down and thought, calculated how I could utilize the rest of my holiday. How much money I would earn etc

And then I remembered the parable of the rich man in Luke 12!

Then one from the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” But He said to him, “Man, who made Me a judge or an arbitrator over you?” And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” ’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! Covetousness! What a quiet and sneaky disease. Rich in things poor in soul.
There is nothing wrong with being an entrepreneur or thinking of ways of making money, but I must watch the deceptiveness of the heart and to ALWAYS check who I am serving. God or mamon?

My heart is filled with thankfulness for the truth in God's word to guide me and to help me have a better perspective of LIFE

I conclude with this while counting my money:
1. if I died sometime during the week the cash I think I'll have won't matter!
2. Seek FIRST His beautiful and eternal Kingdom

because the car is slight racing car or something (according to my men-dad and jono)

A timely LOVING reminder that God's love IS EVERLASTING

i was just trying to fathom what ETERNAL love is

not limited by temporal sins and wickedness

i like the imagery of the Lord 'drawing' me to Himself

I remember a time when i was younger, probably 3-4 years or something.

when i did something wrong and made my dad angry,

after he smacked me with the cane on the hand and i sobbed at the corner,

dad came over to me and pulled me into his arms

and reminded me that even though he smacked me and chastened me,

he still loved me

what more the Lord

'mercy came running, like a prisoner set free

passed all my failure

to the point of my knees

was ALL i could see

I was really angry at someone and my first instinct was to REACT

the old-jewel surfaced a little and my violence/anger/wickedness bubbled through a little

but by His grace, He gently calmed my heart down and directed me to read His words and wisdom

on the instruction of life once again.

and this is what stood out to me on the issue:

Proverbs 6:12

A worthless person, a wicked man walks with a perverse mouth…

yes, seven are an abomination to Him

a lying tongue

and after i read proverbs, i wasnt angry anymore.

who am I to angry? it is enough that the Lord will be angry. and then i felt bad,

that I myself had become almost like the violent and wicked.

i also pray that the Lord may have mercy on the individual

the book of proverbs really do contain straight forward, practical instructions of life!

As I think about the iranian Christian who might be killed anytime for His faith because He refuses to recant, I tried to think of what he might be thinking about.

Could his life perhaps be used by God in the same way paul's life was used?

'But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel,
so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ; and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. (Philippians 1:12, 13, 14 NKJV)

If I could imagine the struggle between his flesh and his spirit. Every inch of his flesh could be yelling out for him to recant and to go back to his family. Every sense of 'logic' to escape this death. And yet, could have his mind been strengthened by the knowledge of the Christian calling?

'and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God. For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, (Philippians 1:28, 29 NKJV)

As he stands up infront of the counsel, could his heart secretly have echoed this beautiful assurance?

The words of our Lord Jesus echoes 2000 years ago, through the bible, to comfort his heart...

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. Could his eyes have looked passed the angry jurors, the judge, the court... And see The clouds of unseen witnesses, the martyrs of all ages, Paul, Peter and Countless more, cheering a brother home.

This week, I had the privilege of chairing for children worship.

pastor Chris challenged me to teach the children HOW to worship properly.

i dug into my frontal cortex to think about how i should go about doing so and i realized one thing: i had ASSUMED knowledge of worship to my own disappointment

'of course i had worshiped every sunday and i assumed i knew what it was: thanking God, giving praises.. singing...'

but that was the generic understanding. i had not truly thought and pondered.

and so i searched out the definition of worship through wiki (hehe):

Worship is an act of religious devotion usually directed towards a deity. The word is derived from the Old Englishworthscipe, meaning worthinessor worth-ship — to give, at its simplest, worth to something, for example, Christian worship.^[1]

Evelyn Underhill defines worship thus: "The absolute acknowledgment of all that lies beyond us—the glory that fills heaven and earth. It is the response that conscious beings make to their Creator, to the Eternal Reality from which they came forth; to God, however they may think of Him or recognize Him, and whether He be realized through religion, through nature, through history, through science, art, or human life and character."^[2] Worship asserts the reality of its object and defines its meaning by reference to it.

this really blew me away. here is what i got out of it:

worshiping God is my way of expressing to Him that He is WORTHY. (i mean who are we that God would actually lean down towards the earth to even LISTEN to us! and yet our worship brings joy to His heart)

as a created being, i was made to respond and acknowledge the handiworks and reality of the a great Creator.

worship comes about when He is a part of my life and that i can ascertain that He is a REAL part of my life

i like how David worshiped the Lord. He recognised all the above, specially in psalm 100:3

we were made to worship our wonderful Creator, our wonderful Shepherd!

i had my arms poked at least 3 times today=(

she wanted to try for a 4th time but she wasnt that confident

still unable to draw blood out!!! apparently my vein moves.

agh

the nurse said im 'special'

i was really frustrated because the other time they tried it 5 times before getting it.

on the third needle, i asked if i could play music

so i played 'how deep the Father's love for us

and i immediately focused away from the flesh and found peace with the Lord.

ofcourse i could still feel the needle delve deep into my muscles and trying to find the vein

but i kept in mind that this is just the flesh and that as a child of God,

i must be marked with PEACE and graciousness(;

after the try, the nurse looked REALLY guilty.

so i had to reassure her.

she commented: 'at least the music works"

hahahah

ofcourse(;

even in that situation, i seek to shine for the Lord.

when i am in pain, i want to turn to my Father.

to seek comfort in His eternal, immortal comfortable arms.

i went in anxious, jumping around- to stimulate my blood in the arm.

by the second try i was shivering

one of my readings went like this:

"the tragedy model of disability encompasses many perceptions of disability which are nearly always negative. these includes notions of inferiority, pity, sadness, evil and disgust. in the Bible for example, impairmnets are always linked with uncleanliness, sin and possession by devils (Stiker, 1997). Many of the miracles of Jesus (and the antics of recent religious crusaders concerned the curing of impairments with the implication that disability is both undesirable and tragic"

this was a discussion in class and it is really sad how Jesus is viewed.

i would not look at the men who does things "in the name of Christ" but rather on the Christ

in regards to Jesus:

in Luke4:16

1. Jesus was sent to

a) preach good news to the poor

b) heal the brokenhearted

c) proclaim liberty to the captives

d) recover sight to the blind

e) to set free those who are oppressed

Jesus did miracles because it is a fulfilment of the Messianic prophecies of the old testament. but He came with healing and love in His wings. why do people view it any else different?

Jesus is the direct representation from God.

in Psalm 56:8 look at the gentle and sweet carring God we have.

'You have numbered my wonderings, put my tears in Your bottle"

and in regards to the implication that disability is undesirable and tragic?

John 9 gives us a little insight to why things happen for a reason:

in John 9

1 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

3 “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,”said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.4 As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. 5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

the perceptions in the reading always come from short-sighted men for eg. the disciples perception. that the impairment was linked to sin or the fault of the parents.

however Jesus replied graciously and gently:

'that the works of God might be displayed in him.

wow!

isnt that wonderful if the works of God can be displayed in us!

it beats any other 'fulfilling human occupation' if you ask me.

and its true anyway, many people who have disabilities live so much better than the 'normal' people.

many blinded can see eternal things that people with physical sight miss out

many without limbs soar in excellence with faith

many without hearing can HEAR the words of life

many without speech give praises

as Christians:

then she started cancelling every single on of it. but i smiled because i couldnt cancel anything on my list!

My list however was not restricted to earthly things.

recently ive been feeling down but my heart has been encouraged by seeing Jesus in various people in my life.

the wake of Jesus's love in my friend's lives

I had felt pretty sad and down recently and i was sharing with my friend that

it wasnt until the sunday when pastor Chris started preaching on the message of sonship, that one of the greatest gift of sonship was that we were not condemned anymore!

people condemns
guilt condemns
satan condemns
sin condemns
we can even condemn ourselves all the time!

but

romans 8:1
There IS therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,

the beauty of God is that He NEVER condemns.
if He did, He would NEVER have sent Jesus to die on the cross for us!
so if He does not condemn us, why are we still condemning ourselves?

i felt the huge weight of condemnation roll off from my back you know. and i could smile
my heart could smile
and the wings of my heart struggled and took flight again.
the warmth of His love touched my heart again and i marveled at what a beautiful Father i have.

kinda sad that ive decided not to sing in the choir

i even bought a dress for the occasion=(

when i found out that we were standing non-stop, i realized that i couldnt physically do it.

dancing is alright for a while if i have stretched because there are gravitational shifts but standing,

if i did survive that, i dont think id be able to walk the next day or something.

sometimes when i stand for about 15 min in the same position,

id already feel my back complaining and my knees swelling.

but seriously, only by the GRACE and STRENGTH of the Lord that i can survive over the weekend!

(i pay for it on mondays hahaha)

also got scolded by doc because im not joining yoga or seeing him enough

doc said that these things shouldnt even be on the radar at my age

but because i had learnt to live with it for so many years

it seemed 'normal' to me.

thats kinda how it is like with sin and darkness iniit?

when we have lived in it for so long that we think it is 'fine',

until we are shown who we WERE suppose to be (genesis 1)

that we realized how FAR from glory we had fallen.

and just like how it is, we must seek to be healed and to be returned back to what we were.

and just like me, i hold fast to the words of 2 cor 5

not being morbid or whatsover, but i echo also of hebrews 11:

WHY I FAILED MY DRIVING TEST

as some of you may know,

I ALMOST passed=P

but...

1. when the driver wanted to check my signals, i clicked the right signal then for the left, i hit the windshield wipers. it kept going so fast and i got so scared. i pulled at the left lever and water splashed out.

then i ran outside and told the examiner

'CAN I PLEASE ASK MY INSTRUCTOR WHATS WRONG WITH THE CAR?'

'yeah sure. but youre going to fail'

'sigh okay'

*rushes back and stares really hard at this odd ordeal.

muttered a quick prayer

and 'oh'

*pushes the right lever down for left signal.

when all was well, we got back into the car

but she would put her small, frail, paper-thin skinned hands on me and smile widely

I have always had questions about where i came from

as in my chinese roots

now when i look back at how much i despise the chinese language,

i regret! because chinese IS a beautiful language. especially the beautiful ancient symbols of the chinese characters, all steeped with many stories to tell.

what does the chinese have to do with the God of the bible? where did we come from? is christianity only a WESTERN religion?

no!

as BOTH my parents are chinese educated, i really appreciate the fact that they could help me discern some of the things i read. some of the things interpreted by the writers in linking the book of genesis with the chinese language.

ive started to become REALLY interested in China's history.

the chinese history is one of the oldest! and the language one of the most ancient

we have recordings of up to 4000+ years!

basically the first three dynasties were the

Xia

Shang

Zhou

and recordings of a 'Shang di' is recorded even before the first dynasty!

Just to clarify, im not taking this as scriptural because ofcourse the scriptures is the ultimate authority.

and as for the chinese words, it is unlike the english where it is just letters

but chinese consists of various pictographs and ideographs. which means the word of the chinese represents how it looks.

though some words are composted of phonetic components.

eg.

Yang - sheep. A symbolic representation of a sheep head with horns.
Fu - bat.
Gui - tortoise.
Yu - fish.

these are oldest forms

another example of how the pictograph evolved to the ancient character, and then the present character by which we use now

Without reading the verse from Genesis 2:7, it's difficult to understand how Can Ji could come up with this character. Genesis 2:7 - The Lord formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living being.

ps. when i clarified again, some may take the 'zhou zhi pang' meaning the 'motion' as irrelevant. but on further research upon this character, it is indeed MOVEMENT and not a boat floating along. the previous lettering would be as this:

My first post on FOOD

this is something i HAVE to blog about

i am absolutely IN LOVE with this place.

its on the 2nd floor of ion in orchard road and the first time i went-with Zhang man and her cool sister, i FELL IN LOVE.

omg the SCONES! i had fogras sandwhich too

the scones is perfect and every nibble i took of it

i felt like i was somewhere in heaven

i couldnt stop having that goofy smile on my face.

ive been feeling funny and perth-sick

i felt like a failure

well the conclusion of the youth conference was very touching and really good.

to be honest, i wasnt really looking forward to coming back to singapore

and even to youth conference.

i had built a tower of pride, a tower of expectations of great growth (spiritually)- to be much stronger and to be soaring above weakeness

but instead, i was looking down at a wreckage, and i was limping

and the frustration of an 'AGAIN?!'

but as i came to youth conference, i never knew that it was in this state that the Lord would touch my heart once again, to wipe away my tears of disappointment, and to lift my head again

do i love You?

a few lessons id learnt from john 21:

Peter was the one who said he would never fail his Lord! but was the first to deny

Peter had turned back to fishing, to turn back to his old life in his shame

but when Jesus came back, Peter excitedly without a thought wore His clothes and jumped off the ship.

(i think I can idenfiy with the impulsiveness of Peter)

as they sat around the table with their Lord,

Jesus spoke up first. no reprimanding, no 'i told you so'

but a gentle probe at Peter's stony heart.

'do you love Me?'

in my heart, i could identify with Peter, and i mumbled a weak 'yes' also

and that is all Jesus needs! He meets us where we are! oh wow!

as i reflect, Peter, the great apostle had failed. had failed His Lord, His friend

and many a times, so have I.

but Jesus gently teaches us that there WILL be failures.

Jesus then says again,'follow me'

AGAIN

but this time, as Peter takes up this second call, he got disracted by the other disciple with a 'what about him?'

and Jesus gently says again, 'follow me'

i chuckled at this because i could totally identify too. Peter got distracted too, straght after such a moving scene.

I can get distracted, but with this second call, I am more aware that failures ARE a possibility.

im glad i came to the youth conference, because i look towards the years to come with a bit more courage and maturity.

and i learnt so much more about my Lord Jesus,

His GREAT love and PATIENCE for me.

i learnt more about God,

that He loved us as He loved Jesus too.

so failing is okay, there is a lesson in it.

ive finally come to swallow that

and now its time to move on, to move ahead to the next chapter, and to meet Jesus where I am.

I grew up with teresa teng songs(;

its something that reminds me of my childhood

and makes my heart miss my old home and singapore

i remember this song playing in the red car that we use to have

when things were much simpler and we were much younger

when we lived in a 3 room hdb flat and mom still worked with a japanese company(;

its a lovely song that makes my inside melt- though i dont understand a word

unfortunately she died of an asthma attack

this is why i live in the past songs and dislike the recent songs now!

i got smash kicked by a soccer ball and my mother reacted by laughing her butt off and taking a picture of me straight away.

i TEARED because of the impact of the smash but kept laughing

thank you to everyone who cared about my head after that(;

a magpie swooped down and started attacking me

it was relatively traumatic

it was so fast and so black and so scary

i ran down the street as fast as i can

getting ready to hit the bird

but the bird was swifter than my flabby arms which flailed weakly in the air

and it kept pecking my head

and followed me /chased me down the road

was having dinner with family today at scarbrough beach

as we took a family picture, the waitress smiled and said,

'aww how nice, i wish i could take a family photo too. never had the chance'

and it dawned on me how blessed i was! to have such a lovely family. that is one. that is together.

something not to be taken lightly and as a norm in these days.

and my heart really goes out to her, and to all who also dont have complete family members.

as we sat on the edge of the beach eating, the sun set and it was so beautiful.

and the perth sun ran down into the ocean within a few minutes.

it was an amazing sight and my grandfather was staring ahead in amazement.

afterwards, the sky was painted beautifully

and i could hear God whispering,

'I did this JUST for you'

its true! God could have made the sunset grey and we would have never known.

as i read Max lucado's books, I really appreciate the grace and beauty of the Lord, His wonderful handiworks -psalm 68

and His beautiful love and delicate trinkets of delights sprinkled about the world.

the world can be a sad sad place,

but God still takes effort to make things special everyday(;

He did this just for me(;

dad's back in perth!

we just watched this show called 'shen zhen' with donney yan in it.

it was pretty sad, but kinda odd.

it was about the japanese invading china, and how there was resistance by some masked man.

after the show...
